Buying used? A bodywork inspection can save you thousands

When you buy a used car, you usually think of having a mechanic inspect it. And that’s a good idea.

But there’s one detail plenty of buyers forget: the bodywork.

A car can have an engine in perfect shape… and still be covered in rust under fresh paint, or carry bad repairs that will fall apart in six months.

At Débossatec, we see this kind of case every week.

A clear, simple service, no surprises

We offer a pre-purchase bodywork inspection, built to give you the straight story.

✔️ Full 20-point assessment 📋 You get a clear written report, colour-coded:

  • 🟥 Red = repair soon
  • 🟨 Yellow = keep an eye on it, can wait
  • 🟩 Green = nothing to report

💵 $125 - ($50 – credited toward your first repair) ⏱️ Free if it takes less than 5 minutes and it isn’t worth it

Why a bodywork inspection?

Because a good seller or a good “weekend handyman” can easily hide:

  • rust that was treated badly
  • dents filled with body filler
  • a fender that was replaced badly
  • paint applied badly that will blister at the first winter

And a mechanical inspector or a general inspection service… doesn’t see any of that.

For us, it’s the specialty. Bodywork is all we do, and we’ve been doing it for more than 20 years.

Exactly what you get

After the inspection, we hand you:

  • A clear document with our observations
  • A colour code for each point checked
  • A written estimate with the repair costs, if needed

That document helps you:

  • Decide whether the vehicle is worth buying
  • Negotiate the price with the seller
  • Plan the repairs if you go ahead

A few of the things we check

Without giving away all our secrets, here’s a preview:

🔍 Differences in paint shade or texture
🔍 Traces of rust or of home repairs
🔍 Door seals and mouldings put back on badly
🔍 Panel alignment (hood, doors, trunk)
🔍 Bubbles or blisters under the clear coat

And plenty more.

One bad surprise avoided = thousands of dollars saved

A car can look perfect at first glance, especially when it has just been washed and polished for the sale. But it’s what you don’t see that can hurt later.

A $125 inspection today can save you $2,000 or more in repairs a few months from now.
