At first glance, a door repair can look simple. But behind work done right, there’s often a lot more than you’d imagine.
At Débossatec, we like to explain what’s behind our estimates — not to impress you, but to show you the discipline and care every job takes.
Whether the door is repaired, replaced with a used part or with a new one, every step counts. Here’s exactly what we do to guarantee a flawless result… that lasts.
🧰 Step 1: Taking the door off
Two technicians remove the door from the vehicle to get full access and work in a clean, safe environment. It isn’t just more convenient — it’s essential to a flawless result.
🪛 Step 2: Removing every accessory
Handle, mouldings, glass, latch mechanism, speaker, seals… every piece is carefully removed.
💡 Even on a used door, everything comes apart. Why? Because even if it looks good from the outside, dirt or rust can be hiding underneath. It all has to be inspected and prepped properly.
🧽 Step 3: Surface prep
Every square centimetre is sanded thoroughly, even in the corners that are hard to reach.
- If it’s a repaired door, the sheet metal is straightened, then sanded to even out the surface.
- If it’s a used door, we strip off every invisible contaminant (dust, wax, oxidation).
- Even a new door gets sanded all over, despite the factory primer coat. That primer is often too smooth, or incompatible, to guarantee good paint adhesion.
🎨 Step 4: Primer, paint and clear coat
Once the door is perfectly prepped, we apply:
- 01A coat of primer
- 02Paint matched to your vehicle’s exact colour (with its variants if needed)
- 03A clear coat to protect it and give it the glossy finish
Every step is done in a controlled environment, for a result that lasts and has no flaws.
🔩 Step 5: Reassembly and adjustment
We put all the accessories back on, and the door goes back on the vehicle with precision.
🧭 This is where expertise makes all the difference. A badly adjusted door can close poorly, make noise or let water in. At Débossatec, we make sure everything is adjusted to the millimetre.
⚖️ So... repair or replace?
Every situation is different. Here are a few markers:
- Repair: if the sheet metal is only lightly damaged, with no cracks and no metal stretched too far, we can repair it. It’s often cheaper.
- Replacing with a used door: a good option if we can find a compatible part, but it takes a lot of prep work.
- Replacing with a new door: ideal for some recent or rare models, but even new, the door has to be sanded completely before painting.
✅ A lasting result, guaranteed
Whatever solution you go with — repair, used door or new door — every step is done with precision and care. We take the time to do it right so your door works perfectly… and looks as good as the rest of your vehicle.
At Débossatec, that attention to detail is part of our signature. That’s why our repairs carry a lifetime warranty, for as long as you own the vehicle. Peace of mind that comes with work done right.
